One of my favourite bands of all time, probably the most versatile and talented band ever! Tried desperately in vain to play Gary Greens guitar parts ( i was 18 and had been playing for about a year) . Great track from the incredible Free Hand album, and what an extraordinary bass line from Ray Shulman. Those were the days! Never got to see them live, alas! Long live the memory of the Giant!!
How many other prog bands could sound kinda funky like GG could? Musta been the clavinette. Sort of a Zappa influence in there IMO, but still totally unique. Never been a band likeGG before or since really.
These guys were AWESOME Live..!! I saw them a few times in NYC.. The Palladium was great..One time in QUADROPHONIC..!! Blew everyones mind..!! Thanks for posting this vid..!
Either they're a little off with the intertwining background pattern from the beginning and overall songtempo or altered it on purpose, it's just NOT the same as in the album and previous live versions and I think those other versions had a better flow. When Minnear picks the vocals back up at 3:30, he seems to be rushing it.
Nitpicking, I know, but they've done this song much better in other performances. Still one of my absolute favorite bands though.
love the white overalls-definitely cool at the time... had to have some big mac overalls. didn't have the wite ones though. but had the painter's pants, army pants, banana shoes, earth shoes, wallabees (with beads in the laces) and of course POOKA SHELL NECKLACE. luv the 70 's.
