"And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars." -Revelation 12:1

The Nauvoo Temple is my favorite Temple with no competition in sight. I wanted to make a video that would illustrate the richness of its symbolism as well as showcase its elegant beauty. I hope I succeeded.

The Nauvoo Temple was the second temple constructed by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, commonly known as the Mormons. The church's first temple was completed in Kirtland, Ohio, United States in 1836. When the main body of the church was forced out of Nauvoo, Illinois in the winter of 1846, the church attempted to sell the building, finally succeeding in 1848. The building was damaged by fire and a tornado before being demolished.

In 1937, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reacquired the lot on which the original temple had stood. The Church built a temple on the original site whose exterior is a replica of the first temple, but whose interior is laid out like a modern Latter-day Saint temple. On 27 June 2002, this new temple was dedicated as the Nauvoo Illinois Temple.

  • " This is a video (filmed by me) of my favorite Temple: The Nauvoo Temple " Excelente !!!! :D

  • Have you ever considered a career in documentary film making? Those shots are incredible and the HD camera really helps out tremendously. I find Mormon temples to be interesting considering the Book of Revelations has John going through a temple to the Holy of Holies where he sees the Lamb of God.

  • A very well presented video. when time permits me... i wanna go to these temple.. Its so beautiful and so heavenly to look at.. :)

  • @TheBBQPope NO!!! I can walk into any Church or Temple is this World not being a member of those Churches or Temples and be Welcomed. If you Try to walk into this "Mormon" Temple you will be stoped at the door and if you refuse to just go away you will be put to the ground and had arrested for not being a member. I live six miles north of the Nauvoo Temple and we hear stories all the time. Tell me..Would God like theses actions and call them accepting in his house?....No. It's a Cult....

  • Cool, it was at the Nauvoo temple that Joseph Smith received the revelation about the sacred tokens (handshakes), signs (hand gestures), and names. The problem is that the Mormon Endowment is not like anything that was done in ancient temples by the Jews. In fact it is more like what the Freemasons do in their lodges. For example the square and compass are the main symbols of the garments that are given in the Endowment. The square and compass are taken straight from freemasonry, not from Judaism

  • It deals alot with Masonry, It comes from the Pythagoreans, to them it was a mathematical perfection, it represented the place where the first pre-cosmic offspring had to be put in order for the ordered cosmos to appear.Later people added that if the star points down it means matter over spirit and if it points up it means spirit over matter Masonry was really big in Nauvoo and thats probably why it was put on the temple.

  • The scriptures teach us that “the Lord requireth the heart,” and we are commanded to love the Lord and serve Him with “all [our] heart.” The promise is that we “may stand blameless before God at the last day” and return to His presence

  • @HrafnNordhri There's a clear answer by the Church on their website giving information on the Salt Lake Temple. h t t p : / / w w w. ldschurchtemples . c o m / saltlake/

Look near the bottom of the page under the description of the Starstones.

  • I went there when I was in the sixth grade and it's was amazingly beautiful. I would love to go back. I don't care that I'm not even that kind of religon. It was a wonderful place full of history and incredibly nice people.

  • This is the only LDS temple in the world where its front side faces westward. All other front side temples face east.

  • @Doliath By derogatory I was referring to those who attack the church by criticizing the temple. Preferring one architectural style over another is not being derogatory. I prefer some of the older or more individual styles because buildings "speak" to me, as oddly as that may seem. I am glad that the 10-7 temples are expandable. (10, 700 sq. ft.)
