Researchers at The University of Texas at Austin have developed a novel concept that combines the production of energy from brine aquifers to offset the cost of carbon capture and sequestration. This idea, in theory, has the potential to bring the cost of CCS down significantly to a point that would allow it to survive in a competitive market without subsidies or a price on carbon.
