**We will only adopt our cats to people within a 50 mile radius** There are cats like Annie at every shelter who often get overlooked because they are shy BUT STILL GREAT CATS if given a chance in your home. If you like Annie, contact your local shelter and ask about their shy kitties! Thank you! Here is Annie's petfinder profile: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/11170722

This is Annie, a feral cat I am helping. Here, I am making noises with my mouth and she is responding to me with meowing.

*Update* 1/26/08-Annie is doing very well. She lets me pet her and purrs and takes treats out of my hands. She even "kisses" me, by licking my hand.

*Update* 2/10/08-Annie now sits in my lap for a few seconds and also lets me pick her up, again for only a few seconds. She is doing very well.

*Update*4/21/08-Annie is doing very well. She sits on my lap for about 20 seconds and lets me pick her up. She has started laying right next to me now, instead of being a "safe" distance from me. She is such a sweet cat. She will be ready for adoption soon.

*Update* 7/20/08 Annie lets me pick her up for a longer amount of time and she also lays next to me while I read. She is so sweet.

*Update* 8/21/08-Annie is now living at the animal shelter I volunteer for. She is doing very well, much better than I thought she would. She is curious about other cats there any is no longer scared of other people. She is doing very well and although it was a difficult decision, I think it was the right decision for Annie.

*Update* 8/28/08-Annie is doing very well at the shelter. She is much less fearful of humans. She has not bit or scratched anyone and still remembers me when I visit her throughout the week.

*Update* 9/14/09-I saw Annie yesterday at the shelter and she did something that she has never done before. She rubbed her face on my face. She used to be too afraid to do that. She was purring and giving me lots of love!

*Update* 10/22/08-Annie is still at the shelter, waiting for someone to adopt her. She is doing well, making kitty friends and relaxing. She still has awhile to go until she is more comfortable with other people though.

*Update* 8/2/09 Annie is still at the shelter and doing well in the room she is in. Sometimes, I see her sitting with her kitty friends looking out the window. She is doing better with people besides me and that is a good sign. Typically, really shy cats like Annie bond to only one person (that would be me) but she is getting more comfortable with other people. We have had some people interested in adopting her who saw her pretty face on Petfinder but once they find out how shy she is, they don't want her! That's sad because Annie is a sweet, sweet kitty!

*Update* 1/5/10 Annie is still at the shelter hanging out with her kitty friends. Annie now lets other people at the shelter pet her briefly. She still has people come meet her periodically but nobody ever wants her when they see how shy she is.

*Update* 5/29/10-Annie is still at the shelter with her friends. I saw her last night and she seems to be really happy. She is in a room with no cages so she can roam free in the room. She rubs on and cuddles with her kitty friends.

*Update* 9/12/10-Here is a link to Annie's petfinder page: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/11170722
She is still available for adoption and living at a no kill shelter in Parkville, MO.

*Update* 4/11/11- Annie is doing very well at the Parkville Animal Shelter. She lets volunteers touch and pet her and she loves her kitty friends in her room. She is still looking for a home though! :) http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/11170722

*Update* 11/18/11- Annie continues to do great at the shelter. She has many kitty friends that she cuddles with and a nice view of a field where she gets to watch birds at the feeder and the occasional deer that stops by.

  • Is she still in the shelter after two years? =( Hopefully by this time she's at someone's home...

  • @Germania72 She currently lives at the shelter but she isn't in a cage. She lives in a room with other kitty friends. I think she's happy there.

  • This is the first time I've seen this video. Hearing her squeak at you and reading the updates you posted made me tear up... Why hasn't anyone adopted this beauty yet?! I wish for the best for her. She is truly a beauty.

  • As much as I love all animals. Feral cats always look so pretty!

  • she's beautiful

  • I want her so badly </3 she is so beautiful

  • I have a former feral. Rescued at 8 months. Neutered him immediately. 7 years later of TLC, still can't break him out of old habits of rooting and kneading. When he is happy, he soaks my shirt with licking . The vet told me he still has mommy issues. Also I have to watch out, he bites hard. When he snaps, look out. I have warned the neighbor kids not to approach him. Roy is a good cat to me 95% of the time. 5% he still can act wild. Grey swirl tabby.

  • @busrel I opened the door to see what was going on and it zipped in and hopped on the bed happy as a clam. I could barely sleep through the purring. In the morning it was ready to go back out. He never wanted back in again but kept me in supply of rats and mice. This guy came from a feral line going back over 30 years according to the complex owner. I am still the only human it has desired contact with. Oh and vets that take care of rural animals say this is quite common.

  • @busrel When I refer to a cat as feral, it was born in the wild to a mother who was also born wild and follow that back a few generations and they will f*** you up if you try to pick them up. Sometimes there are feral cats who decide, for what ever reason, they like a person. I had a rural apt. in college and this feral male started leaving me kills at my door in the morning. One brutal winter night it started howeling at the door. (cont)

  • @Robbob9933

I grew up with true feral cats, for that matter I know more than you do (scratches, bites).... These days cats people always use the wrong terms such as "feral" and "stray". Ask any vet they'd agree with me.

  • @busrel Not necessarily. If a feral cat decides to be friendly towards you, you wil not have any choice in the matter.

  • There's a lot of cats on my college campus, but there's one that seems to follow me around. I usually ignore it, but it like to hang out with me and I occasionally pet it.

  • This is just a stray cat(abandoned pet)... feral cat will start growl and hiss at you already... People get some education plz!!!
