A video showing how I prepare to paint an abstract painting with acrylic paint, using lots of transparent layers. Structures, as I call them. I really do not know where a painting will end and exactly what it will look like. It is a kind of exploration where one learns on the way...

More to come soon...

  • I'm not familiar with acrylic laquer is. Is this product purchased from an art supply store? Your video was very interesting and I'm now looking forward to watching "the second day". Thank you for sharing.

  • Thanks for the comment - and acrylic laquer is actually something bought from an ordinary paint shop, normally used to laquer wooden panels. It is water soluble and light resistant and entirely transparent. One could of course mix it with pigments, too...

  • cool video! makes me wanna go and retrieve my old easel from the closet... oh wait... i don't have it anymore!

i've never tried doing abstract painting from scratch. i always paint an object or something that resembles one first then... abstract it. haha. =D

  • Then you have to paint without an easel:) As you can see, I do not have the best conditions but... right now we have cleared out a lot of rubbish from another compartment here in the basement and Julyana installed a good light tube so now I have more space, at least - but I long for a real studio!
