Katha is an organization that connects grassroots work in education in India and since 1990, it has driven its education model on a single powerful idea: Children can bring change that is sustainable and real, which is in strong alignment with the goal of OLPC. Katha runs 71 schools in slum communities with more than 200,000 children. For more information you can refer http://www.katha.org
XO laptops were deployed at Katha Khazana, one of the school setup by Katha in a slum community at New Delhi. The school is marked by its distinctive atmosphere creating a rich learning experience for students ranging from pre-nursery grade to 12th grade, which was further enriched when OLPC, India distributed XOs to the school children on 21st January.

Kindly note remarks made by
@stellaeecuk are not by me stellaeecuk.
Observe the very DECEIT on comments from INDIA to even try to pass off as me who stands for all things for JUSTICE, MORALS & ETHICS. SHAME on you.
Does your voice, NOT have sufficient power that you have to use false ways to convey your thoughts under my name.

Creativity comes from the mind not from computers. This is not the way forward. Children in the west can neither speak, read, write nor behave. This is due to technologies. This is the best way to dumb down your children. Those supporting laptops for children in India are certainly not visionaries. Do NOT kill innocent creative minds. India has always been productive without computers.

Perhaps research further. Children in India need to hold a pencil and paper learn to write, spell. Not press buttons for spell checker. How will you protect your children from viewing adult corrupt images; 3 year old taught how to use a condom; operations to change their gender;educated that cervical cancer vaccines are available FREE to encourage child sex.Children in the western world, disrespect authorities and parents. Computers show them liberties, without MORALS nor ETHICS.

Do we really care about the Health of our children and the next generation? Detrimental health effects including Cancers are confirmed. Instead of having tunnel vision, perhaps apply multi disciplinary skills/views including visionary. Compare the intellectual capacity of those in countries without computers.

Why fearmonger? Why not experiment and figure out instead.. Tell Kapil Sibal to see the future.. create a legacy and not live in the past

@stellaeecuk: I'm sure they are concentrating on providing the fundamentals of education which has been the organisation's primary focus since it's inception in 1990. Introducing computers as a part of the education curriculum wont do any harm but make them learn about the things which are surely gonna shape their future.
I'm also sure that OLPC Foundation and the creators of the laptop must have given a well researched thought into analysing the effects of WIFI on the health of the children.

Children will obviously enjoy the novelty. They should be taught the fundamentals of education.Computers should be for fun not education. How safe is Wifi for their Health.
