This is our version of detention. Instead of getting a hour of sitting there doing nothing. instead you get stuck. Getting stuck could be for ANYTHING from improper shave to fail to comply to gross poor judgment. Each stick is worth a certain number of hours on bullring (the square that they are marching in). The worst two sticks are gross poor judgment and cadet unbecoming witch are both worth 4 hours of walking. They make you walk up to 3 hours a day with the 12 pound rifle if you have that many hours to march. Most of the time it is hot and depending on who you have as a TAC officer they might not let you get any water or use the bathroom.
We also did not have TAC officers. Didn't need them, evidently. The ranking cadet officer ran the bullring, unless one of the officers of the guard wanted to do it.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Brigadier General Broome is going to make a few positive changes regarding the military side of things. It will be a long time coming. The "Army" has now landed, and the situation will become "well in hand", to paraphrase a well known slogan.

Tell you one thing. The FEW times I was on the Commandant's bullring, I ran it with precision. This bullring here is slop, pure slop. I would have had a platoon formation and drill would have been the order of the day, not slouching around with a rifle taking a nap on the shoulder.
