OKKO Dominator High Gain Distortion: Charvel to HIWATT SA212

Here's a very quick, no frills demo of the mighty OKKO Dominator. The Dominator is made for serious rock and has great attack, gain and EQ versatility. It's not made for low-gain or medium gain; it's made to crush. In fact, you might notice the picture 'shaking'. This was caused by the sound pressure level in the room when I was recording. It was seriously loud. (Sorry, neighbours!)

You'll hear a heap of mid shaping possibilities, helped greatly by the three-way mid frequency rocker switch on the top face between the jacks (very important). Watch the demo just for that bit.

I'm using a Charvel Music Zoo Custom Shop Koa H/H (2010) with an SH-5 in the bridge position and a '59n in the neck position. The amp is a HIWATT Custom Shop SA212, I've miked it with an SM57 and a Violet Design The Amethyst (left and right respectively with light panning.)

The guitar is in standard tuning because most videos featuring this pedal feature dropped tuning or 7 strings. I will, however, feature a video soon with the ESP T7 tuned to B (with EMG's).

Which is the right pedal to get a nice Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath kind of tone on my VOX AC15? This pedal, Wampler Triple Wreck, or something else? I don't have the money to buy a Mesa.

@wideman0008 I can't unfortunately, as I haven't tried the Rivera. I'm really digging this one, though. I had to let the Emma go a few months back so I can't do an A/B, unfortunately.

@zabimaru1000 the emma pisdiyauwot is very nice and a bit cheaper than the okko. a bit brighter from what i recall, but that helps cut through the mix in a live setting.

live it sounds way more 3d , less buzzy and overall interesting that any youtube clips I heard! It has bite & punch but with massive low end and high gain with low noise level! I had proto of this beast and was stolen by my mate who asked to try it on his gig! Really great pedal but I like my Openhaus more bcos of more amp like tone and feel. I checked Domi, Openhaus, custom BJF DRD, Skreddy Zero, Baja Tech Da Moaf into clean channel of CAA PT-100 and Domi was #2 after Openhaus.

Almost seems like a mesa tone stack. I really want to find a pedal with a good mesa tone stack so I can have a little more flexibility with my legacy haha.
