Dell Rhea's Chicken Basket, located on old Route 66 in Willowbrook, Illinois, cooks up some of the best fried chicken in the Midwest.

  • I ate there yesterday. Had the Chicken Basket meal and the chicken wings. Both very good. Brought home a hamburger for my mom.

  • Actually theres a lot he admits not liking, the peanut butter burger, he was hesistant to try tongue, he didn't like pickled herring. You know when they ask him if he wants more and he says "oh no, im driving" lol he cant say something tastes good if it doesnt other wise thousands of people will write in and complain, so when he does find a winner he'll usually say "you have to check this out"

  • @jkrizzyboston I wrote it down in case people wanted to make this without having to look at the video. You don't have to be nasty.

  • @PalJoey1957 It's partially because it's considered historic. They really do have the best fried chicken I've ever had. You don't get a lot of good southern cooking in Illinois, especially the closer you get to the city, so this is a nice change. Plus the creamy chicken dumpling soup is probably the best I've ever had. And they've got some awesome drinks on the bar side.

  • @ALLurBASESrBELONG2us make a bechemel add cheese, put cheese cause on bottom of dish, put macaroni on top of cheese sauce more cheese sauce on top with some cheese on top of that and put in oven, its not hard...

  • Loved many of Guy Fieri's recommendations, but I have to wonder what the selection process was on this. Very ordinary chicken, gizzards, buffalo wings, and macaroni/cheese. Soaking chicken in salt water and deerp frying at low temperature, as described, does not produce anything exotic. Fieri usually goes for spices, flavors, originality. Patrons were all elderly, working class folks. Environment smells of oil. Ho hum!

  • Best fried chicken I've ever had. The white meat was so moist and flavourful and huge.

  • Mac takes 20 minutes to bake? Take into account the 15 minutes it probably takes for the chef to start making the order, on top of the 5 minutes it takes to prepare- you are looking at a 40 minute wait. Sheeeiiiit I hope that place is worth it.
