Glad he sang it straight, without all the false jumps and embellishments.

You can' t just start the game after that. They needed to wheel out a grand piano and pianist and have Art roll into "Bridge Over Troubled Water". The game could have waited.

It's good to see people appreciating his version of this song. Cute quip at the end though. I personally love Art Garfunkel's music! Thanks for posting it!

Garfunkel said in an interview that lots of singers alter the phrasing and such because to sing it as it was originally intended is very vocally difficult, lots of sustained notes, and he said that if he were to ever attempt it he'd want to do it properly, doing it the original way, doing justice to the original.

that would make neighborhood dogs howl.

Despite the fact that he grew up in Queens, Artie is a Phillies fan...It says so on his website, and there is a picture of him singing in all Phillies gear at some game...most likely the National Anthem at an old Phillies game. Blessings!

Art Garfunkel singing the National Anthem? Other than Elvis Presley, there is NO ONE better equipped to sing this song. Just a masterpiece of modern performance art... minus the cornball talking at the end of the clip!
