This is THE song these guys made the voice of blue-eyed soul. Combined with Go Ahead and Cry, you have the mix that defines the sound! Whether I'm 15 or heading to 60, my head's back to the first time I heard them.
This was on Verve's Original "Righteous Brothers Greatest Hits" Lp,issued in 1968,but was left off the updated version of it,retitled "Unchained Melody"..BTW,that Lp version was in Stereo.
Absolute jaw dropping perfection! For my money, this was the Righteous Brothers' finest moment. That the far more widely recognized B-side of this single ultimately came to define them is still one of the great dichotomies of their career.
