Programming a PIC chip,
This is my first time messing around with these devices
There are lots of pic devices, and lots of different ways to program them
allso loads of videos on youtube , but none made sense to me , as they were either to complicated , or videos without sound that made it even more complicated or not giving the full details from start to finish of how to get a pic working
I hope these 3 videos help to demystify micro controllers or P.I.Cs

dude you got the exact same notebook as me^^ but the kit doesn't work on mine...

Hmm, it must be the cable then, or the com port settings on your pc

Use a inline serial cable NOTa modem cable

Don’t use any usb to serial adaptors it won’t work

Give us a shout if you get it up and running :-)

@aidabab you were absolutly right, I tried to assemble a cable with the plugs that were in the box, and absolutly failed!^^ I then used a cable from a shop and it magically worked... see here: youtube.com/watch?v=n4rYZ_qW0Z­8

Great stuff , I’ve put my velleman kit to bed now , and moved on to a pic kit 2, don’t get the pic kit 3 its crap, once you start using a pic kit 2 and mplab 8.50

You will wonder how you would ever get on with out it; it’s simply the best thing you’ll ever buy In electronics ,
