we fried the cat control lead using laptop placed there and it had ferrite on leads rf just fried it whooopppsss

Doesn't the laptop above your 990 block the air/vent holes? You need to keep those circuts as cool as possible bro!

I love the FT990 the atu is v fast and tunes just about anything. Great video. What antenna were you using?

I use a 2 x 15,5 meter long inverted V antenna which stands over my house.They were very loud here and even worked them on 80 in CW and SSB.
I changed rigs and own a FT-2000 now, regret i sold the 990!
