First year team coaches Rick Neuheisel of the Buffaloes and Howard Schnellenberger of the Sooners battle it out in this round of top ten heavyweights. The Sooners half-time lead of 17-14 would slip away mid-way through the fourth quarter, as the Buffaloes would go on to roll OU 38-17. This game would mark the first sellout for a Sooners game in over 5 seasons, as the build up to this game would bring even ESPN's College GameDay to Norman.
Embree has the Buffs on the right track. CU has a proud football tradition and won't be down for long.

CU will be better next year. At least we beat CSU and Utah. Are hated (Maybe not so much Utah) rivals

I was at this game. this was the beginning of the end for howard. did we have a punt blocked? that was howard's specialty, we had a punt blocked in almost every game. at this game colorado would have receivers split wide and we wouldn't even have anyone out there thinking about covering them. this was a nightmare season of coaching incompetence. howard also used to ride to and from the games in a limousine. very, very weird period.

@rnorthro14 Rashaan Salaam was a nightmare for us OU fans. So was Eric Bienemy. I don't miss them at all.

I miss the old Big 8 and the good old days when my Buffs could bully 7, or at least 6 or the Big 8. Great win in the asterisk bowl but seeing Carruth and knowing what he did sullies it.

Great to see these old games. With Embree in charge, we'll get it back.
