As an aside to the Yorkshire Scot on Sunday 6th September 2009 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhU_fpTYLu8 - Woolybak8 and I made a flying visit to the National Railway Museum in York, to see what was going on.
We start off in the South Yard, where GWR 'Hall' 4-6-0 number 5972 Olton Hall (alias Hogwarts Castle) was giving rides to the general public. The proceedings were watched by ex EWS and former Royal Train loco 47798 Prince William. During a spin behind Olton Hall, LMS 'Royal Scot' 46115 Scots Guardsman was seen being serviced before the journey back to Liverpool.
Later on, we headed to the balcony (near the works) to watch two HST's from two different companies. Firstly, a Grand Central service to Sunderland (with 43068 and 43123), departs York station amid clagging and typical Valenta screaming. Following soon afterwards was a NXEC service to Scotland, with 43315 and 43319 being the powercars.
Afterwards, a jaunt around the Great Hall was made. BR Britannia 4-6-2 number 70013 Oliver Cromwell greets us, as she makes a brief stay at the NRM, after working the last Scarborough Spa Express trains for 2009. We also get a glimpse of the re-streamlined LMS 'Coronation' 4-6-2 number 6229 Duchess of Hamilton and a 1934 Chrysler Airflow car, sitting among the museum's regular cast of locomotives.
Finally, we head back to York station to see Advenza Freight 66841, stabled in York loco sidings.
Thanks go to Woolybak8 for the company!

@SteamATwork No, 70013 isn't at the NRM at the moment (still under repair at the Great Central, I think), but you're in for a treat if you're going for Hogwarts Castle! Cheers for commenting!

At the time of filming, 70013 Oliver Cromwell was just dropping in for a visit, having worked the last Scarborough Spa Express trains for 2009. A week later, she went off to Leeds Neville Hill. Thanks M3UEX!

Thanks Bob. I was particularly lucky to get a ride behind Olton Hall before it's departure the next day, and also 70013 Oliver Cromwell enjoying a brief stay in the Great Hall.
