I was in port Subic Bay and a coup broke out. We were ordered to get underway. The cable was pulled on the pier just as Navy lined up for the field goal. It was 12 hours before I had found out that Navy won.
This was the first Army-Navy game I remember watching. I was 7 years old and I've watched it every year since. My grandpa was USNA class of '32 and I used to love watching them with him. I can't hear "Navy Blue and Gold" without tearing up.
what i meant to say was that they go out they play football for four yrs knowing that u are trying to fight for your country u might not get out of this alive so u see them crying it breaks ur hart because something so bad happens to man who is so happy that they won a game but the greatest battle is upcomming after training over the summer against people who hate the usa and its unfair to the people let them enjoy there family for at least six months some people wont see their family again.
what a great rivalery because noone in this game ever played a down in the nfl and they go out and play their harts out and play well they cry and it break your hart because they might die in a war and that way it sucks to go out that way.
This was a great game. I was there working for CW Pack. I took the photo of Shank jumping up w/ the holder. It had to be -35 on the field. Film was breaking when we tried to load the cameras.
Did I mention how damn cold it was? It was colder than my ex-wife.
Thanks Charlie, great experience. Thanks for posting. Great memories.
Notable fact: This game takes place in Giants stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the home of the New York Giants and the New York Jets. It's sad that Giants stadium will be gone in 2010. That was a great game, GO NAVY!

This was the #1 highlight of my 4 years at USNA, in terms of emotion.
