The first explosion (right side) is one pound of flash powder, the second is ten pounds. Even the plywood box with one pound in it is shredded. If it explodes while you're making it, you will be, too. No containment was used (the powder was in a bag.)

WOULD EVERYONE PLEASE JUST STOP FEEDING THE TROLLS AND SELF-APPOINTED EXPERTS THAT OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT EXPLOSIVES?

One pound of 70/30 flash powder, UNcontained (A LOW Explosive), followed by 10 pounds, at a distance of about 375 yards. Period, end of story. (Does anyone note the LACK of a hypersonic blast wave traveling away from the blast? Duh! Do a search on "NASA Jet fuel Factory Explosion" for an example.)

  • since flash powder is a LOW explosive does it even have the power to even hurt anyone???

i mean everyone is talking about it as if it was nitroglycerin LOL

  • @evoldevildogs What do you think your condition would be if you were standing next to either of the explosions you saw? It would be a four-letter word: D-E-A-D.

  • Most flash powders are indeed (fulminating) high explosives when only lightly contained.

  • @AJ7092 Technically, that is incorrect. High explosives DETONATE (a chemical structure change propagated by a supersonic shock wave), whereas Low explosives "deflagrate" (burn), albeit at extremely high burn rates, but still subsonic. Flash powder is very dangerous, to be sure, but does not come close to matching to power of a true HIGH explosive, since it is not one.

  • "WOULD EVERYONE PLEASE JUST STOP FEEDING THE TROLLS AND SELF-APPOINTED EXPERTS THAT OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT EXPLOSIVES?" U MAD?

  • @WeaselWJ More like frustrated. So many posts are obviously from kids or other people that make ridiculously uninformed statements about explosives. Like 1archanglegabriel said, if they practice what they preach, it's a wonder that most of them are still alive or still have hands to type in their posts.

  • why would you use 10 pounds of flash what a waste, if over 1kg use anfo or something else

  • @kiwison222 .....obviously it wasnt real flash powder then, if 50-100 grams as you say blew up in your hand, you would lose a few fingers, maybe a hand, dont bother commenting if you dont know what your talking about.

  • @AJ7092 i have had 50 to a hundred grams of flashpowder blow up in my hand all i got was a burn on 2 fingers and the burns were not even that big so i have absolutely no idea what you are talking about the stuff is barely dangerous.

  • Forgot to mention, very dangerous. There is a lot of information out there that will get you killed if you don't know what you are doing. All it takes is a couple of high profile accidents, and BATF will be all over this shit like white on rice. Use your heads, folks.
