Renshi Jason Griffiths (Koryu-Uchinadi Kenpo-Jutsu) outlines one of the many 'Ground'-based applications offered for the opening movement of the Shotokan Kata Empi during his 'Karate's Clinch & Groundwork Applications' seminar held in Adelaide on March 19th 2011.
This position from Empi has many applications in a Ground-fighting/'Grappling' scenario, other examples offered during this seminar were an arm bar submission from side control and half-boston crab.
