Man how do you charge up the playing (one you're controlling) character's attacks? It would make the game so much easier. I have this on cartridge and it's so hard to beat the bosses because of it. For instance, if I am playing as the boy, the dog's attack will charge up, but if I am playing as the dog, the boy's attack will charge up. I have had this game since the 90's and can't get anywhere.

@youisiaint Just hold the attack button down until the attack gauge is fully charged and then unleash those killer moves by releasing the attack button. First you must of course level up the weapon.

did you know there's a way in SoE to cast more than one spell at a time? choose the dog by pushing select and then press the button that opens the boy's menu, choose a spell and before it is been cast, immediately push again the button that opens the boys menu. there you can choose one more spell. with this, i sometimes could cast about 14 spells at a time. try it, its fun^^

if you want a challenge, don't level your spear up that high~ just use normal attacks at a low level.

You need to use the action menu. It determines how offensive/defensive the pawn is and controls the maximum level the AI will charge the attack. Like someone else said holding A will charge your attack up provided you gained enough weapon exp to use the power attacks.

@Mungola ha thanks. I was stuck at this boss (magmar?) but once I read this I beat him in less than a minute...I never, ever knew that until now.

Besides I doubt a attack is very useful when you have to further level it.

A bit silly if it was like that.

Anyway aim for the center of the enemy.

that was a great fight but the best thing ever its the victory music, its just.....FANTASTIC!!! :)

i can charge up my spear to that level but i never can make a direct hit? does it have to be higher than level three to acually make a direct hit.
