@ethran true. but i didnt mean that we should cheat. but instead it would be great to have a group where they show you how its done. and plus the proff did quiet the shitastic job to teach us. its pretty frustrating. and on top of that they made all the midterms (except the first one) and the final hard as hell.

@ethran your last point is deff something ill consider!
but most of my T.A who are Ph.D level and stuff they say you wont really need chem. And as for Materical science, i made sure i learned that part well:P

@bsb1387 quite a lot of trouble in the future.

@bsb1387 to know this stuff for the exam. When you graduate, you will have a responsibility to your company to do your best work to save costs and time on the project. You will also have the responsibility to the public to create useful contributions to society and to take every precaution not to design something that can harm them (unless of course you work for a military contractor, but this is a different story!) Cheating may save you time now, but getting into that habit will cause you

@bsb1387 They don't teach us these courses just to have us spend money. If you can't understand basic Chem principles, how will you understand Material Science? You build on first year knowledge every year and to say that "most" engineers won't employ that knowledge is foolhardy. How do you know now what you will need in your thesis or on a project for your company? It goes beyond knowing your basic science though. It's also an attitude. Don't get trapped in teh idea that you only need

@ethran most engineers wont even look at chem after first semester (like me) so why even waste your time on chem.
-
McWilliams (or however you spell it) the proff who makes the hard ass chem exams for engineering students, is a retard and has some mental issues.
thats pretty much it.
-
Huh, i am attending ryerson right now, didn't really hear much about this...can anyone tell me what happened to this engineering student?
-
The actual issue with this facebook group was that the full solution method was being shared is students just plugged their individual values in. Collaboration is a positive thing in Engineering but this wasn't collaboration. Cheating is anything that compromises your academic integrity and participation in this group clearly goes against the spirit of professor McTavish's quizzes. Avenir didn't start the group, but after the creator left, his account became admin so he got blamed.
Short version: the student was reinstated, and received a B (his original grade) on the course.
