This holiday season, I get to transfer my pal's U-Matic collection. He's got a glut of cool videos made during the tube years. Look at all these dusty KC-20's! Can you say, watch your tracking, skew and color tracking? Narrator on Channel 1 and music on Channel 2! LOL! Get out the Y cords!! I am keeping a bag of lint free cloths and 94% Isopropyl around at all times. Clogs happen. But these 1980's tapes still play clear and clean. Dropouts are abound, but not a problem. I wonder if there is any truth to that business about how videotapes are supposed to deterioirate. These are over 30 years old and play fine. The colors are vibrant, the sound is true. Hmmm.
