Yet another in my ongoing series, as I try out the various video editing applications geared towards consumers. It's just my little experiment, move along, move along, nothing to see here!

I find that while I enjoy Sony Vegas for many reasons, it does have a weird interface and a few things are rather foreign at first. I was able to figure out most of what I wanted to do in one evening, however (thanks to the manual and some online searching). I don't think I prefer Sony Vegas Movie Studio to Premiere Elements, and *definitely* not to Final Cut Express (or Final Cut Pro, obviously). There are some nice filters in Vegas, and some things are easier (once you learn to do them the Vegas way) but there are too many limitations.

Music from the soundtrack "Link" by Jerry Goldsmith. Video clips from BBC's "Robin Hood," featuring Richard Armitage.

  • What kind of lame-ass comment is that? Sony sells Movie Studio, so there are people *buying* it. It's a lot cheaper than Pro.

For the record, I also have Vegas Pro 8 (I *bought* it) as well as Final Cut Studio (also *bought* it). While Vegas is a fabulous application at a good price, I prefer Final Cut Studio, in part for Motion as well as LiveType. But I don't know if you can use Final Cut Studio, so perhaps you wouldn't know about that. If you can't, sucks to be you, I guess. LOL.

  • A wink smiley goes a long way, m'dear; you should have tried it. And I did add an LOL!

  • Wow!! the music is really reaaaalllllyyy British and here British spells inappropriate :)

  • The music is by Oscar winning composer Jerry Goldsmith, a native of Los Angeles. ;)

  • Well it did sound british and for the type of scenes and intensity in the video, it is inappropriate.:)

  • It is TOTALLY inappropriate! LOL

The film the music is for is actually a thriller/horror movie about an intelligent orangutan (what bizarre movie—starred Terrence Stamp and Elizabeth Shue) and the music actually fit the film quite well!
