  • coe wasnt a bad loser contrary to some ppls views. he did what he did bcos he was disappointed with the way he'd run,not really bcos he lost to ovett. both were great. the world may never see an era like that again

  • Those were great days. There was a period in time when these 2 greats were breaking records week after week. The sad thing is though, looking back, that I think they only raced against each other a total of 4 times, and on the last occasion Ovett dropped out with injury during the race. I recall a Sunday night race live on the BBC when Ovett defeated Coe before their peak, possibly in 1978. Then, of course, those 2 great races in the the 1980 Olympics.

  • coe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i was always an ovett fan myself always a good sport ,coe to serious , didnt like the way he strode off after ovett beat him in the 1980 games, in the 800, coe was favorate and a bad loser, yet coe beat ovett in the 1500m ovett was favourate but got bronze , coe though in other 800,s ,what a finisher , both great , with cram and elliot behind , what would we give for middle distance runners like that again ,we were spoilt

  • Legends of the Athletic Field ,these two.Can one ever forget the BBC Commentary coe ,ovett its coe ,its ovett...glad to see seb coe is so involved with the olympics in London in 2012.
