first heard Brian read this in 1971 in the Arts Tower at Sheffield University at an English Department poetry reading event. It stayed with me over the years and I asked Brian to read it again in Sheffield many many years later at the Cruicible Theatre, which he did. He is by far and wide my favourite poet, through all those years from when I was 19 in 1971
