These are green bees and carpenter bees in my garden pollinating broccoli flowers. Shot with a Canon 7D and edited with Avid Express Pro HD. I shot most of this handheld with a 100 2.8 and a 50 1.4. The green bees are about the size of your pinkie finger nail, very small. It was a good challenge with mixed results. If you like this video please comment and subscribe to getawaymoments.

  • great video, and amazing handheld shots in such low fielddepth and proximity..

any idea of using Canon video lenses on these cameras?

  • @nishandhAzhikode no, i think its the other way around. in the next year you will see canon coming out with a "video" camera that uses EF or EFS lenses.

Canon has an entire line of high quality broadcast camera lenses built for high end HD TV cameras .... the thing that makes DSLRs attractive is a great look at a substantially lower cost.

  • Looks nice. Those bees looked to be keeping quite still for you. Is the 100mm a macro? Good stuff with the focusing, kept it nice and crisp. Did you slow some shots down in post? A few shots seemed to be a little jumpy..

    Great work!

  • @BeanpoleProductions it is the old canon EF 100 2.8 macro, funny thing, the bees did not hold still at all, hence handheld! my clips were so short i used slo-mo on every shot, if you look at my dragonfly video its all realtime ... they held still, and they were tiny
