  • He pulled the engine out just to try out his new hoist :) Thanks for the vid

  • THAKS MAN REALLY HELPFUL. i HAD NO CLUE WHERE THEY WHERE, I WILL TRY AND REMOVE THE TRANNY INSTEAD OF TAKING THE WHOLE ENGINE OUT.. LET YOU KNOW IF IT WORKED OUT FOR ME

  • when are they going to show a video, showing installing freeze plug with the engine on the car!

  • Can anyone tell me,do you have to take the engine out of a 95 camaro.to change a freezeplug?

  • Why in the HELL did you pull the whole engine out to replace them?? It would have been about 100 times easier to just drop the tranny down!

  • you could always just weld a plate over them, then you wouldn't have to worry about it ever again.

I have had one pop from freezing, since I'm a dumbass and didn't have any coolant in the engine when winter showed up. Glad it worked for me, although I still haven't gotten around to fixing it.

  • btw ... good vid! and they are a pain in the ass. Sorry for your luck. Glad ya found them though.

  • lol@ everyone saying freeze plugs are a safety feature. Not busting anyone's balls specifically.... cuz everyone says it ... lol .

Freeze Plugs are actually Casting Plugs, they are the spot at which the sand or other material is drained from the block during the casting process. They are rarely effective as "freeze plugs", if ever.

  • no a leaking freeze plug will not alow coolant to leak into the engine. they are a attempted safety measure to prevent your block from cracking in the event of the coolant freezing. if you had coolant leak inside your engine the block could be cracked, depending on how your freeze plug leaked.(sometimes they rust out....sometimes they pop out due to frozen coolent.) there are also two plugs on each side of the block. not just the rear ones.

  • Hey man that sux. I have the same problem on my truck was it hard to put in new ones. I have a question when that freeze plug leaked did any water get inside the engine.
