Eromenos; Beloved: An Alexander x Bagoas Love Story

PLEASE READ THIS!

The story goes like so: Alexander battles the Persians and wins. Now that he is the new king, he goes to Babylon to receive his glory. While there, he visits Darius' harem where he meets Bagoas, the most beautiful eunuch in all of Persia. Hephaestion is jealous. Alexander asks Bagoas the dance for him later; Bagoas agrees. After his entrancing dance, Alexander gives the eunuch boy a kiss for a reward and has him meet him in his tent afterwards. Hephaestion is outside Alexander's tent, wanting to tell him of his feelings for his best friend. Alexander gives Hephaestion a hug and wordlessly tells him that he doesn't feel the same way. Leaving his best friend to contemplate his thoughts by himself, Alexander enters his tent. There, he and Bagoas ensue their newly found love. And, afterwards, they sleep in each other's arms.

Or... that's how I thought of it...

A couple of observations.

There were types of 'Eunuch'. It seems Bagoas was probably the type where he was sterilised by having the sperm duct severed - he still had a penis and testicles, and could still perform a sexually 'active' role if he wanted to.

And this is a bit of, sadly all too typical, Hollywood 'cowardice'. The young man depicting Bagoas here is, although very beautiful, too old; he was probably in his very early teens.

Yeah but Bagoas was Persian and was a Eunuch. Hephaistion was Alexander's special male friend, Bagoas was the exotic Persian dancing boy Alexander had sometimes visited. It was never shown if Alexander ever felt anything more about Bagoas other than a valued object. Sad..... But Hephaistion and Alexander had a much much deeper bond emotionally.
