Ex-Commander's presidential bid

Sutiyoso's step to run for President in 2009 was plainly responded by heads of political parties. They are yet to decide measures to propose Sutiyoso as president candidate. Results of some survey institution showed that alternative candidate is still difficult to compete with president candidates who participated in 2004 election.

This former Jakarta Military Commander seemed anxious to compete his former Military Commander, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is now President of Indonesia. 2009 is two years away. Sutiyoso's step this time is rarely done,
using political safari to some parties before he put down his reign as Jakarta Governor within a few days. Heads of political parties plainly responded Sutiyoso's step.

It's not easy for Sutiyoso, as a new name of president candidate, to compete other candidates who have been nominated in 2004. LSI and LP3ES surveys showed that Sutiyoso's popularity is still far behind other candidates. Of course, Sutiyoso's step still has to wait public respond, whether they interested to vote for this former General in Presidential Election in 2009.
