  • I think Adam would be disgusted in the guitars tone,

  • @Dethbrin it was the recording device the tone was awesome in the club...

  • ...I'm going to inject something here that I hope won't be laughed at. I've listened to every cover the band's posted on surfer's channel. It includes a liberal sprinkling of some _incredibly_ dark songs. This one? Rainmaker? Starseed? By people this _young_? And performed with such focus? I'm not sure how much of the darkness in this music was experienced while performing it (yes, I know the new material's not so dark but still...)

  • @strangess13 Thanks for all you comments. I think the message behind most of these songs are more meaningful than many top 30 pop songs that are just about bling, booty and getting some. I know as a parent Ive discussed the meaning behind many songs with Logan and watched the original videos with him (Jambi oh boy dark video but the message is a meaningful one).

  • Did the bassist miss that bass slide? about half way through the song? it gets quiet and the bass slides down the neck, then it picks up again. The guitar was a little TOO distorted and the Danny Carey isnt easy to play his stuff... so good job drummer...

  • @RandomnessM They had to shorten the song unfortunately

  • @sliversurfer1 I havnt got a problem with it, I dig the tone, but it sounds too metal for Tool, I guess

  • but this was the video that grabbed my attention because the band managed to convey the pure seething insanity, alienation and bleakness of the original song better than Tool did...not because it was better played than Tool but because of the atmosphere and feeling Random Hill put into their performance.

(btw, hearing this song did help give me a badly needed wake up call when I heard it in Nov 2009 so thanks!)

  • I listen to the new material. So far it's gritty, not dark. But if you guys ever find you're making truly dark music again...be careful? I spent twenty years as a hardcore fan of negative emotion laden art of all types. And mostly my life was the worse for it. Yes, an honest person admits life has many hard, ugly, or terrifying parts. But if you truly believe they are the most prominent and important aspects of reality then start searching hard for another (truthful) way to look at things.

  • I'm not a musical technician, but I'd say for a song this ruthlessly technically accomplished that the band did well to play something that was recognizable as the track and had its own distinctive "signature" in emotion and energy. And I agree totally you sometimes have to do something over your head to improve overall.

  • @taylorcowden umm weve have gotten better and our band can beat ur bro anyday!

  • @sliversurfer1 that sux :( ... the bass slide is my fav. part of the song haha,... but seriously, is the bass a GSR200?
