what the f**K

Well desmond is a jamacan name

You know, more TNA fans know who Nigel McGuinness is than WWE fans.
-
So like I asked Cdude, how would you book Nigel's debut, meaning with the current roster & storylines going on atm, what would you do w/ Nigel to start him out?
You actually sound optimistic for once, & I think if you guys explained your views w/o adding the occasional insulting comments or references to so called "experts", you would get more constructive arguments, rather than a bunch of WWE/ROH yes men, or TNA fan hate comments.
-
I see this for what it is in the context of the storyline: youngster wants to make an impact, youngster targets top guy, youngster takes him by any means necessary.
You can even add another dimension to it, with the new Kurt "seeing the light" with the young talent, & Desmond Wolfe essentially ruining it for him.
If he was wrestling Kurt & going over him cleanly, then ok, they went too far. But all he's done is ambush him, giving no indication that he's even on Kurt's level.
-
Will Desmond Wolfe draw with the casual crowd? Who knows?
Which is why you would think Nigel going to TNA would spark interest & intrigue in the indy fans.
This program w/ Kurt is pretty much an experiment, & with the crowd reaction end result, they can figure out where to put Nigel in the overall picture.
It's not as if he's being thrown into the heavyweight title scene(not yet at least). It's more or less Angle using his star power to help the young stars, like John Cena for example.
-
Nigel was not willing to give up the copyright to his name, so instead he allows TNA to copyright a new name that he'll work under.
There will not be a Nigel McGuinness in TNA. Ever.
-
The push probably won't fail, but will it draw? Will this newly named character, who has no history under this name, draw well among a crowd who wasn't aware of who Nigel McGuinness was?
I'd actually love for it to work for him - I'm sure most ROH fans would, as we're talking about one of our own, and we want them to succeed beyond just the realm of ROH.
But when you get down to it, TNA is trying to do what ROH can't - appeal to casual fans - so you have to ask, how does Desmond do that?
-
If TNA is trying to appeal to casual fans, and you're debuting a new character, you can't just THRUST them up against a Kurt Angle kind of guy - a main eventer - and expect the fans to instantly care. It's a tough sell.
You want to get the most out of this talent and really gain fans approval of him instantly? Then go the route of Brock Lesnar: have him beat meaningful mid-carders in dominant fashion, THEN have him feud with a legitimate main eventer, and people won't shy away from your new guy
-
Also did it ever occur to you the way you and your youtube circle jerk gang sees things, is not necessarily how everyone else sees it.
Cdude watching Nigel debut:
Aaargh, he doesn't deserve this push, they need to build him slowly, it's going to fail, damn fucking russo, everyone is gonna fall for his plan!
Average viewer watching Nigel Debut:
Hmm, who is this new guy? What's his agenda in TNA? He just ambushed Kurt freakin Angle, he's gonna get his ass kicked next week.
See the difference?
His debut was not bad at all, he had a decent recaction, dunno what show some of you guys are watching lol.
BTW who the fuck is Bryan Alvarez lol? He seems to be the nutsack that alot of these "smart" fans hang onto to prove their point.
But yea Cdude, how would you have booked Nigel's debut, if you're gonna bag on something, then obviously you had something better in mind.

You can't just have him walk in and sneak attack Kurt Angle when only about 50,000 people out of their 1.5 million viewers know about Nigel McGuinness. You have to build him up and make him seem credible and on the same level as Kurt Angle; they've given ROH fans the ultimate ammo against TNA fans with how they booked this.

So because he's not working his way up the card, this push is gonna fail?
Of course no one knows who he is, & that was the whole point of the attack, he's trying to make a name for himself. What better way to do that than have a confrontation with the top guy in the company? That's the storyline from what I gather so far.
You're trying to convince people that this push sucks before it's even started, because you have some kinda hidden agenda with Russo.

It should have happened in front of the crowd not in the back(I'm talking about the very first one).

"Everyone is asking me where I got the name from - someone said Withnail and I - but Vince said he did an internet search of the most popular British names and came up with Desmond Wolfe!" he laughs."- Nigel McGuinness
