My God...this is only 4 months after Pearl Harbor was attacked. Can you imagine the rush of satisfaction and anxiety that these heros must have felt when they went "feet dry" over enemy territory? Thousands of miles from home!
Even before Midway!
I would love to have a tape of their comments and thoughts during the actual raid.
Payback is a Bitch

The scenes in the beginning of this video showing the B-25 and the actors on "Hornets" deck, were actually filmed indoors on a soundstage with some real B-25's.
The launching scenes are a mix of special effects using models and shots from the real raiders taking off.

Amen...These actors were pretty big back then...They WERE the stars of their time.

If anyone ever watched star trek,
The gunner is "CHARLIE"

I actually located the plane used in this film. Serial # 40-2347. A B-25B that was delivered directly from the factory to MGM. It's stored in Chino California, it's in bad shape but in possession of an aircraft restoration company-Aero Trader. . Purchased from MGM in 1966 and it's been baking in the desert ever since. .Google that serial number and some info will be returned.

Exciting images. Best scenes I've scene of a WW2 movie. My uncle served on the second Hornet that was built to replace the first. It was amazing how fast we built up our Navy and air power and land materiel after the decimation at Pearl Harbor and the dismantling of our military after WW1.

Has anyone noticed that at one point in the movie, 2:02 here, the sailor's uttering the word "hell" is bleeped out? I've heard that for the movie 'Gone With the Wind', the studio that made it had to pay some kind of "profanity fine", so that Clark Gable's character could say the word "damn".
Thanks, LockAndLoadp, for posting this outstanding movie!
