Not only in this scene, but throughout the whole picture, Robinson upstaged even Bogie and Bacall just with the strength of his performance of his character. Probably one of the most underrated actors ever in Hollywood. They don't make actors like that anymore, see?

This scene shows what a great actor Edward G. was---his portrayal is so corrosive, colorful and with a touch of humor that you look at him and NOBODY else!! And of course Mr. R's voice is unique and drips malice and power. My family and I love when this movie comes on! A real classic!
