Oh God another project. A documentary series I guess about the fortunes of the ITV regions, starting and quite possibly ending with my own. Actually this was a surprising amount of fun to make, despite the constant teeth-gnashing at the constant memory drain it was taking. Most of the clips from TV Ark, the script is improvised as usual, I think it's pretty good, and if you like it I command you to pass it along. Who knows, some prick in a haircut working for Endemol or Fremantle or something might see it and give me money to make a better version PART THREE.

  • This was actually, genuinely heartbreaking, Mr Mask. I think even when I was a tiny lamb (not that tiny, I was about 14 when TSW became Westcountry) I realised what a huge loss TSW was. Langford and Stirling's sign off is perfect: dignified and sweet. Bloody Thatcher. Bloody Carlton. Bloody, bloody Cameron.

I'm now residing in Scotsland, and my missus would be well chuffed if you did "these parts". So that's another vote for a Caledonian entry there.

  • You're not that Dan McDaid, surely?

  • I AM HE.

(Just out of curiosity - how do you know me?)

  • Dude, you write (and sometimes draw) the Doctor Who strip! You have my dream job!

I didn't know you ever lived in TSWland.

  • Good god man, it's as if you have a particularly nasty headcold there. Can't help but feel sometimes you're just about to sneeze or blow your nose loudly.

  • I swear i'd jud by voice.

It's why I was so good at my French pronounciations.

  • I remember Westcountry TV its ident tune to me felt rather like the national anthem - only a bit shorter. TSW was hell of a lot better. Then bloody C*****n cocked it up.

  • I come from Granada land and seeing what we did to ITV is quite upsetting, but at least we ain't Carlton

  • That is the only real fault Yorkshire Television (my region) suffered from: Lack of in vision continuity meaning we had nothing like gus honeybun. If something like that would've been around I would have absolutely loved it. Ah well, the chevron is still cuddly too...

  • Having come from the Yorkshire Television region, (I'm actually from Lincolnshire, but we got Yorkshire whether we wanted it or not), I don't remember any of the presenters, (Judi Spiers, excepted), or indeed Gus Honeybun. However, I can empathise with the loss of so many familiar faces and a part of your life which has now gone forever. I hate the homogenised ITV, as it is now. Regional TV had so much more character and personality that what ITV PLC ever will have. What a real shame.

  • I Live In The Tyne Tees Region, So I Didn't Worry About Carlton. Granada Media Owned TTTV Since 1998

  • 3:03, Nice Way To Destroy An TV Station, Carlton! With Gus Honeybun History!!

  • By the way, if you ever need an illustration or summat for one of these, do let me know.

Oh yes, born and raised in that Cornwall. Mostly a BBC type growing up, but still miss the days when ITV was any bloody good. It's nice to see David Fitzgerald getting some recognition here - he was my favourite after Stirling and (early crush) Langsford. Oddly, other than Judi Spiers I don't remember any of the other presenters at all.

Anyway, congrats on putting together such a fitting tribute - it made me well up a bit, I don't mind admitting.
