STORY:
In the heart of Melbourne, an African Drum workshop is in full swing, the public are invited to join in and participate. Drumming together can create a powerful rhythmic pulse. With the beat beat beat happening, Suzanne Mzuri Watts can certainly help one feel invigorated, after one of her interactive workshops, that gives you a taste of Africa.

[Colton Heiberg, British Columbian Tourist]:
"I can umm, I can definitely relate to like how you know, how having a big festival like that would make you feel, and would be really quite something for a village to celebrate, I mean..it makes you feel great."

So how did Colton enjoy his first time?.

[Colton Heiberg, British Columbian Tourist]:
"It's a lot more...there's a lot more to it I think, than when you actually look, it's really a...yeah it's a challenge to keep the beat, but a lot of fun as well."

With the beating  of the drums echoing across the Yarra,  it wasn't long before more people gathered to dance and enjoy the rhythmic beats.  The festive atmosphere bought smiles to people's faces. Participant Shae, expresses her philosophical views after the drumming experience.

[Shae Spry, Local Melbournian]:
"Music is a very uniting factor around the world, and I think that if we can all get together and play music together, it's really something that bridges the cultural divide, and anyone with a heartbeat can feel music, so I really felt connected to the message of the song, as well as to the sentiment of it..I really enjoyed that and felt connected to the drumming for that purpose."

Suzanne Watts is the inspiration behind all this activity, her wealth of knowledge comes from years of traveling. As you can see she loves every minute of it.

[Suzanne Mzuri Watts, African Drumming Expert]:
"Yeah I think that music is very vibrational, and I think that that resonates in people's bodies, and minds and souls, and that's why they love it so much."

[Suzanne Mzuri Watts, African Drumming Expert]:
"Drums also, like the body vibrate, when you play it, it's a vibration, and vibrations are just sent out, and I think we're all connected through vibrations."

The drumming workshop ended with a performance, where the unique instruments played, certainly added color and vibration to the whole experience.
