I hate to burst your bubble. But Did it Rain was infact written by Ray Smith and Tony Colton. For Don Everly's Album the Sunset Towers that was recorded in 1974. Ray Smith also played guitar and vocals on that album. Ray and Tony were also the founding members of the band Heads Hands and Feet. And how do I know all of this. Ray Smith is my husband.
