  • Her pizzicato in/on or at (I'm Portuguese) 0:30 is SO Beautiful. It sounds like an harp.

"Far more charisma and stage presence" It is implying you prefer the visual quality than of musical one when in your manner of appreciation of music. And the supposed "charisma and stage presence" do never equal her "musical" prospects in the long term! However I also love her playing and interpretation but it is rather of her own uniqueness or originality; at the same time it lacks of the authentic approach this greatest of masterpiece might require...

I agree with you that Akiko Suwanai is in a different Class to Mayuko Kamio , but then in this particular competition I far preferred the young Hyun Su-Shin of south korea, she has far more charisma and stage presence than Mayuko Kamio and perhaps in the long long will turn out to be the better performer.

  • Hyun Su-Shin has her version of this Tchaikovsky Violin concerto 3rd movement on youtube and its taken from the the same competition 126,013 views so far and I think along with many others that it knocks this version into touch. It has far more bite and vibrancy than the Mayuko Kamio version. But its all down to the individual as to what is their favourite.

  • @Michaelvandiepen Yes I agree with you, Kamio plays better than Suwanai as far as this Tchaikovsky Competition is concerned. Kamio's performance is simply bolder whereas ( as u put it ) Suwanai tends to be a bit technical.

  • Akiko Suwanai is way better

  • @tdt221 it's music :) It's better enjoyed if you don't have to explain.

  • bravo

  • Pourquoi les violonistes japonaises sont-elles de telles virtuoses? qu'y a-t-il dans leur culture qui les a prédisposées à de tels talents! Magnifique Mayuko!

    bravo!
