Police officers dressed in riot gear marched up in a horizontal line into the tent area pitched at Memorial Union at UC Davis. Officers initially arrested those who did not comply with their order to disperse and then used pepper spray on nonthreatening, completely peaceful students sitting on the walkway.
if everyone would take the time to watch this 15 minute video and not the 1 minute version that just shows people being pepper sprayed im sure many of them would change their minds
If you support the protestors so much, why not invite them to protest on YOUR personal private property? You can deal with all the lunitic behavior on your property. The protestors are like that drunk uncle that comes over for the holidays. He is funny as hell when he first gets drunk but as the evening wears on and he gets obnoxious and boring. People get tired of his antics and would prefer that he would just leave. The occupy movement is no long effective and people just want it to end.
You have the right to assemble, you have a right for free speech. But these rights are NOT 100% absolute. If you want to assemble, if has to be lawful. There is laws what you can and can not do. Freedom of speech means that you have the right to speak without reprisal from the government. The University wanted this protest off of THEIR property, so the police was called. Police asked them to leave, they didnt. The protestors are in violation of the law at that point.
@aero2525 Sure. They support free speech. Im not saying that I dont with my responses either. But get a damn permit. And if it gets complaints, then respect the fact that it will be considered a disturbance that which has to be handled. But look. I got work in the morning. Its 1 am. Questions? Email me or something.
@jfm1200 "“Free speech is part of the DNA of this university, and non-violent protest has long been central to our history,” UC President Mark G. Yudof said in a statement Sunday. “It is a value we must protect with vigilance.” (CBS Local)" Whats your opinion on that.
Their policy clearly states that such rights as free speech and public assembly is not unlimited. Right of the University to establish rules and regulations governing the time, place and manner for the exercise of free speech and public assembly is governed by the courts and the university administration/officials. Enforced by the university police when that right is infringed.
INFECTION! if i was a cop id open fire and take down a few of the straglers running forward like a boss(paintball gun)

@aero2525 and technically, they acted out at them. That calls for their action too.
