Residents of a neighbourhood in Vancouver that is often referred as the countrys poorest postal code set up a tent encampment in a vacant Downtown Eastside lot to advocate for housing and to shelter the neighbourhoods homeless population.
@CommonSenseSeeker Apparently when you are a politician or run a corporation, you are also entitled to break the law? Theft, bribes, negligence... Place the blame where it needs to be placed.
right, apparently you do pay attention to the common people fighting for social justice. But you dont pay attention to the atrocities done by governments and big business. acts that surpass vandalism and trespassing. lol commonsense seeker. what a joke
Apparently when you stage a protest, you are also entitled to break the law? Vandalism, Mischief, Trespassing...No wonder none of the tax paying citizens pay any attention to you!
...the downtown core is expensive real estate. When you take a group of drug addicts, and keep them on a single strip along Hastings street, it could only mean victimizing them. How can a recovering drug addict have chance at recovery when you mix them in the company of drug dealers? The people with mental health problems also get couralled into these streets to fall victim. The DTES is changing and these people need to seperate from each other by despersing. The drug dealers are pissed.
About 5 years ago, the City of Vancouver built a low income apartment building. It contained units many people would pay a significant amount of money for partly due to its location in prime real estate in the heart of Vancouver. The units were destroyed by the occupants. Mental health issues, drug issues...etc. The cost was in the millions of dollars. How many tenants have wrecked your apartment from your personal experience? MANY in mine. These people need hospitalization, y drug programs.
Shawn Miller! It's good to see that you are still alive! I hope that you send me a message on my YouTube channel page. Anyways, I am going back to Vancouver this summer.
Make the Rich Pay
Join Anti Poverty Committee Coalition...
I have live in Vancouver for 40 years.
most people that has mental-illness ( & addiction ) are not born with mental-illness.
it is the human society that push them over the edge, & turn them into drug addicts...
