I used this same method for a hole a little bigger than the one in the video and it worked great. The paper had a tendency to bubble when it was wet, but it flatted out with sand paper after it dried. I had a box of 5 minute fast set mud, but it set too fast for me so I used the regular stuff. I also wasn't skill enough to skip the sand paper.
