DownBeat: June 2011 Release for Corea, Clarke & White's "Forever"

Just Announced: Corea, Clarke & White's 2-CD album Forever will be released in the US on June 7, 2011 on Concord. Forever is currently available only as a Japanese import.

DownBeat covered the announcement with a recap of the album's origins: Disc 1 was recorded live on the group's US tour, collecting the best takes of their repertoire.

Disc 2 is a bonus disc with its own story, capturing Corea, Clarke & White in rehearsal with Chaka Khan, Jean-Luc Ponty and the original Return to Forever guitarist, Bill Connors—all three of whom joined CCW for their debut show at the Hollywood Bowl.

"The vibe is relaxed, with plenty of studio banter and laughter as the trio and their guests prepare the concert material," DownBeat wrote. "The final track of disc two is a fresh version of Corea's '500 Miles High' recorded by Corea, Clarke and White live at the Monterey Jazz Festival."

  • @markoandonov Remastered version of what performance? Isn't this a new recording, albeit of songs they had previously recorded? "Remastered" means they take the original tape and fiddle with it in the studio. I'm pretty sure these are new performances.

  • el violin es de de Ponty, inconfundible !!!!!!!!!!!! porque en la original era el

  • 2:39 Het is een solo voor jullie, nu. XD

    Amazing btw!!

  • I remember first hearing this on the My Spanish Heart album from Chick and was fascinated.I was already a fan of Stanley's so i gravitated to this quite easily when i found he was playing on it. This brings back so many wonderful memories of living with this older woman living in Boston and well you know the rest.We listened to this tune daily. Thanks for a fresh version of this.

  • @zenocomplex that would be amazingly exciting

  • @insidejerk actually, there is one new song, but everything else are new arrangements of old songs and jazz standards--not remasters, but new recordings made with the new band setup.
