Interesting Swedish animation project!
The idea to make an animated film about
bees and their contacts with human beings
was born in Sweden by two scriptwriters.
The film was called Beebylon and this is
a short trailer. Exactly this clip was
presented to Dreamworks in 2002 rumours
tell!

  • For those of you who say this video sucks, it was created by two Swedes as a promo for the idea which they tried to sell to Dreamworks.

This was a year or two ago. Dreamworks said NO THANKS, and well... now "Bee movie" is out in cinemas, but the real people behind the idea got nothing for it.

I think DW did a real shitty thing considering they pay up to a milion dollars for ideas they end up never using.

  • Not the first time American filmmakers (or inventors for that sake) steal ideas.

  • The Lion King is a ripoff of an old japanese anime called Kimba the White Lion.

  • FUCKING 3D THING

  • I BEELIEVE IT!off! Check your dates,Dream Works is a branch of Disney,IDEAS are not copyrightable! In 2003 I gave a Disney lawyer many IDEAS now he can't find my files. I've seen my IDEAS everywhere between Dream Works & Nick. Could it BEE the same Lawyer?

  • This couldn't possiby have been the start of Bee Movie cus the idea was created a lot more than 1 or 2 years ago. Who's to say they didn't copy the idea to try and get credits for it?

  • How can Seinfeld be copying from this movie?

It seems like the plot of this movie is very different from Bee Movie's plot. This movie is about the bees recording the humans' actions with a camera, while the plot of Bee Movie is about a bee suing the humans for stealing the honey. Is that plagiarism? I don't think it is. Also, lots of people have made little animated movies about bees. Stop acting like this is the first time an animated movie has been made about bees.

  • In the end though one can never really know the truth unless you are on the inside which I am not. I got this info from a friend who works in the swedish movie industry and so his version could be biased.

  • Well, I might have been wrong with how long ago they came with the idea to dreamworks, all I "know" is the idea originally came from the swedes. In interviews with JS his response to the question about this was basically the same as when his wife got sued for copying: that is stupid, she wrote a book my wife wrote a book (not the exact words). He laughed it off saying they(the swedes) thought of the idea of a bee movie, and dreamworks thought of the idea.

  • Jerry Seinfeld said on the Andrew Denton show that the project took them 4 years to complete.

    Is he lying?
