Never underestimate the power and mercy of Allah SWT. There are times when Allah tests the strengths of ones Imaan by putting us through trials in life. It's not to break us but to strengthen our Imaan. Patience s a virtue and Allah loves those who are patient. Allah said:
"And many a Prophet (i.e. many from amongst the Prophets) fought (in Allah's Cause) and along with him (fought) large bands of religious learned men. But they never lost heart for that which did befall them in Allah's Way, nor did they weaken nor degrade themselves. And Allah loves As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." (Surah Imran:3)
If you put your trust in Allah then Allah will suffice you. The definition of the word Imaan is to have faith... In Allah and obey Him and to do what He has commanded us to do. But if you don't have trust in Allah, then you have no Imaan. The foundation of being a Muslim and the most important thing is to have Imaan and to put trust in our Lord Allah SWT. As Allah has stated:
"And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things." (Surah Talaaq:3)
Allah tells us about how the people before us and the Prophet SAWS was protected for relying on Allah SWT and putting trust in Him...
"Those who answered [the call of] Allah and the Messenger, even after being wounded; for those of them who did good deeds and feared Allah, there is a great reward. Those unto whom the people said, 'Verily, the people have mustered against you, so fear them.' But this [only] increased their faith, and they said, 'Sufficient is Allah for us, and an Excellent Guardian is He.' So they returned with Grace and Bounty from Allah, while no evil had touched them; and they followed the good pleasure of Allah, and Allah is the Lord of great bounty." (Surah Imran: 172-174)
And Allah knows best.
