A show that details many aspects of the video game industry. Episode 011 is the first of two part retrospective on the entire Nintendo Gameboy line. In part one I discuss everything preceding the Gameboy Advance.

  • I may be wrong - I haven't seen these things in forever - but didn't the Gameboy Pocket version take half the batteries? That was probably a decent selling point. And Nintendo did eventually come up with a plan to get people to buy multiple gameboys and even buy the same game twice (or more than) - Pokemon. :P Gotta have multiple gameboys to trade and different copies of essentially the same game, just different Pokemon to catch - if you wanted to 'Catch 'em all!'

  • @ryanphoenix Yeah, the Gameboy Pocket used two batteries instead of four.

  • What about the milton bradley microvision, the first portable system with interchangable games?

  • @ZavenNes1718 The Microvision was a set of buttons and batteries with interchangeable LCD screen games limited to the onscreen actions hardwired to the screen. The games themselves were nothing more than the simple LCD handheld games of the time. The Gameboy was the first portable console with the ability to play full games with a screen capable of displaying any action programed on any cartridge. They are worlds apart.

  • What's the song where you introduce the Gameboy, the Light, and the Color?

  • @YouTman99 Kirby_s Dream Land 2 Big Forest theme ( OC remix )

  • Ha ha ha! Kindergarteny! I actually got wanted a game boy color when I was in preschool!!!!

  • @kainkusanagi I'm sorry, but when it came out, $250, I could have bought another Xbox or a used PS3. It just doesn't seem that great. I'll be fine with my Gameboy Advanced :)
