  • Hi and thanks to all that make comments, the blower does not push hard at all but I have trouble with it bogging down in deeper snow. I am working on a flywheel for it to help with that. will try and post a 2nd video when snow hits. and power man I will see if I can find that homemade generator. love tinkering myself. thanks

  • Nice! What size motor is it? CC and an HP guess?

Also, it looks like your shoot is hyd controlled, did you plum that off the power steering pump?

Pretty sweet setup. I've been thinking of doing my own.

  • It is a 500 cc Polaris engine and I think somewhere around 80 to 90 hp. the chute is controlled using the power angle from the western plow set up. I can take the blower off and hook the plow up at any time pretty easy. it was a fun project

  • @racingmodracer I am not sure you are right about your hp. If you really had 80hp I don't think it would bog down at all. I have watched a 40hp tracter blow more snow with almost no effort. I wonder if your belt is slipping or something.

Hi there and thanks for the message, I think the issue is there is no flywheel for a rotaing weight. if you think how a bull dozer works and once you get that big flywheel turnning its hard to stop it. the snowmobile is met for high rpm and has no heavy rotating weight. oh well it is what it is for me and will continue to use it this way for now. I will just have to keep the driveway clean. its been fun to play with and if i was to do another one i would have a flywheel

  • Only a red neck would come up with this idea!!! I hear there is alot of them in Harbor and I see that you just added yourself to that list.

  • One red neck with a clear driveway and no banks. and yes we have our list of red necks here and then we also have the ones that would love to be on that list. not so sure that you could be a good enough red neck to be added to the list. ha ha

  • I also wonder if the blower frame is digging in some, making it harder to push?

  • Cool fun buddy. Hello from a Canadian red neck!! haha Check out my homemade generator videos, love tinkering around. I'm gonna try something with some snowmobile engines, but don't know what yet. I agree a good flywheel could make a lot of difference, and maybe tweaking the gearing too. I think I would try a flywheel and a governor, but a governor might be tricky with the CVT still in place. If you make any mods I'd would be interested in watching a version2 video!! Keep having fun!! :-)

  • @mossman381 40hp diesel i'm sure.

  • what is important to know is that a 80 hp polaris engine may have tons of rpm but virtually little foot pounds of torque ,if you will, ergo the bogging down of the engine when you start feeding "her" real snow.A walk behind 36" simplicity or ariens etc. would do more snow in half the time and you would not fall asleep doing it....

  • AKA THE DOG SHREDDER

  • @racingmodracer That makes sense.
