  • No u can't use a transistor and a diode.Write in Proteus optocoupler in the parts selection and then select optocoupler-NPN. But as far as ac is to be controlled use one opto only which is MOC3020 / 21 etc. Don't use 2 nos MCT2E as shown. It is meant for DC circuits.Listen to the AV carefully. I have said that you should use MOC series for ac.At the time of making that AV Proteus was not having MOC series .So I had used MCT2E

  • sir , could u plz explain the function of zero crossing in opto isolator moc3041m

  • @Vivekananda7777gmail MOC 3041 is same as MOC 3061/63 the ZVS opto.Details view my opto LED

  • beautifully explained sir , but cld u tell me , what should be the width of the pulse at the led side or opto coupler , so that it is sufficient enough to exceed the holding current of traic . kindly reply

  • @Vivekananda7777gmail 1 ms is good enough for the led

  • Instead of using a pnp type OPTO which in any case is not manufactured I had used 2 NPN type OPTO with collector to emiter of the other connect and vice versa for that combination to handle ac triggering just for the simulation purposes. But actually one has to use only one triac opto not 2 as shown. At the time of making that audio Proteus had no library support for triac type hence I had used 2 npn type OPTO from the library and I have said that in audio which you might have missed listening.

  • how can we plot circuit in Proteus using optocoupler MCT2E.. that is not available, can we replace it by a transisitor and a diode..

  • @milabut does it make any difference what sort of inductive load is used?

If it, say, a half -kW motor (used with a big starting capacitor) - what would be the values of this snubber components? I am going to use MOC3083 and BT138-600E, but I am not sure about the parameters of those resistors and capacitors...

Could you please explain what happens when we use a motor instead of a lamp as a load? What could be the consequences of improper choice of components?
