Children at the Elementary school had a chance to ride on a Fuel Cell car made by General Motors, a car that runs on hydrogen fuel cell.
Instead of using gasoline, the Fuel Cell cars use Hydrogen for power with ZERO emissions.
I am lucky to be one of the few people to test drive this Fuel Cell car, the vehicle of the future. Three hours after this video was recorded, I drove this Fuel Cell car to pick up the girls from their dance lessons. Without the normal engine noise, it was quiet and smooth. Everything else was so normal that I quickly forgot that I was driving a half million dollar Fuel Cell car!
Here are a few things that I noticed and learned:
1. Only a little water comes out of the 'muffler'. Vivian used her hands to catch a few drops of water from that pipe at the rear end of the car and asked, 'Can I drink it'? Maybe she can!
2. The efficiency of the Hydrogen for power is much better than regular gas! Which means, it actually costs less to drive this car than to use gas to drive a similar car for the same distance!
3. Yes, the cost of this car is still very high because the Fuel Cell technology is still in the research and development stage. Fuel Cell cars are not for sale yet.
4. Just think about the source of this energy-- Hydrogen--out of water! The reusable and unlimited resources on the earth! And no air pollution!

Hope GM will still be there 10 years from now to support the research and development of the Hydrogen powered vehicle--the car of the future!

good, but they kind of need to correct the fact that ur essentially driving a hydrogen bomb. with enough mistreatment, these engines could prove unreliable and dangerously volatile. a good concept, but needs to be made 100% idiot-safe

Hi cussler7, thanks for watching! You know gasoline is not safe, either.
Hydrogen will not stick to any surface and burn like gasoline can. It will escape up to the air quickly in case of leaking because it's lighter than air. The hydrogen tank in those cars store only about a few kilograms of hydrogen. If you call it a bomb, it's only about half of the energy as the regular gasoline tank 'bomb' that we carry all the time when we drive a regular car.

Did you feel no difference from driving the regular car, Linda? Cool video to share!

Hi Min, thanks for watching! When the car first starts up, it doesn't have the normal noise of the engine starting up. And I have to wait a few more seconds before I can swift gears and drive.
Driving is almost the same as a regular car. I was told that they made it as close to the regular car as possible to make you feel comfortable with the new Fuel cell cars. After all, the only difference is Fuel!
