  • Naa, Rex Layne just had a weird and slow style, left, right, stagger forward, clinch, paw a bit, clinch. Why he was compared to Jack Dempsey, I'll never know. He was a top ten contender for something like 5 years, if he was one of the best how bad were the rest at that time? Look forward to seeing EC vs BS! Bob Satterfield the undersized, softer chinned 1950's version of Earnie Shavers.

  • Layne looked pretty ugly here but it could be because he had taken a brutal beating in the previous rounds.

  • Thanks for posting! Looks kind of weird and slow, though.

  • I posted it because of the brilliant Charles' left hook at 5:55.

The video seems fine to me, maybe there are some problems with youtube.

  • I'll upload the Ezzard Charles - Bob Satterfield KO next, another great left hook.

  • Layne was never the same after the Marciano fight and the first beating Charles gave him. You can see his hand speed and physical power in the first Marciano fight before he got dropped and according to reports lost four teeth. He was still durable with good power but never made it to a World Title shot.

  • A weak era for heavyweights. Ezzard Charles "gas tank" looked a little small in this one too. Charles had something like 95 matches in at the time; if it was today he probably wouldn't have got medical clearance to box. A totally shot Joe Louis came back to top contender status, partly because no one else was all that good at the time. Lee Savold didn't make much of a dent in scene during the 30's and 40's, suddenly is a world beater? Sounds like a weak era to me.

  • Can you upload Marciano-Layne, please?

  • you ain't lying bro!
