The SmartBay Project created a system to monitor wave conditions, marine life and pollution levels in and around Galway Bay, Ireland. SmartBay captures data from the Galway Bay and turns it into real-time intelligence delivered to stakeholders in the Irish maritime economy. The system runs on a cloud computing platform and is able to predict water conditions critical to the local economy. The system was developed by the Marine Institute of Ireland and IBM.

Shame they can't put all this smartness into sorting out the drinking water supply for the people of Galway..

Sounds SMART if they actually use it, use the information it relays for the good of the People and their survival.
