I agree that those voices are addicting; they bypass all the regulations and all the stops, not formal beauty, they are too luxuriant to be nicely trimmed and clipped. They are ecstatic excess. Ponselle, though, sometimes allows herself to go there.
I enjoyed hearing this clip. Had not seen it before. Now off to find the lyrics. Thanks. BTW, who does has a beautiful voice for you in the formal sense?

Well, Ponselle, Wunderlich, Merrill, singers of that nature. But as I said, there is some 'raw' quality in Corelli and Tebaldi's voices which is simply addicting. Can't describe it.
