I think for this technik you need at least some basic wrestling skills. It will work against a striker but If your oponent has a wrestling background he could take you to the ground.

@perfectshot77 Real self-defense & sports fighting have a lot of similarities, but also a substantial amount of differences. A lot of this stuff wouldn't work against a world class wrestler who is constantly using forward pressure, but then again, the wrestler doesn't need to worry about eye rakes, ear concussions, downward elbows to the cervical spine, doing a 'double-leg' over broken glass & so on. This stuff has a very valuable place in fighting where the goal is hurt someone badly.

@perfectshot77 its simple because this is not for sport, going the distance is good in all but ending a fight as quickly as possible is the best solution, happy training.

This gentleman understands the realities well. This is Thinking's Man Martial Art.

Ironically, it's Christmas right now.

That was a pretty non-optimal demonstration of a Lop Sao, to be frank. A real Lop Sao is very similar to the methodology demonstrated in video #1 of this series. The Wing Chun "sticky hands" is done with a check, block, trap series and he only showed the check part of it.
Kind of disappointed, to be honest.
The video did have some great stuff in it, though. *thumbs up*

great video, your explanation are really clear.

Great stuff!! I love Mike Janich. His stuff is easy and straight forward. I have volume #2 of this set. All of his moves are very easy to "Build Upon" You can throw in some of your own stuff and you get a great system that is very practical.

This is actually a common movement found in many Silat methods, just Michael throws in some variations. Good teaching, trapping has many variations.
